What is Leaky Gut

Did you know 80% of your serotonin, the neurotransmitter responsible for mood and sleep, is made in our gut?

Did you also know that about 80-90% of our immune system lives in our gut?

Our hormones and thyroid are also influenced by the gut…

A healthy gut is essential to a healthy body and mind…

The gut is truly our "second brain"

They key to a healthy body is a healthy gut

Without a healthy gut, your body will not run optimally.

The foods we eat, the toxins we are exposed to, and the stress we experience all influence our gut.

The gut regulates what gets in and out with tightly linked cells called tight junctions. The tight junction's purpose is to keep invaders out of the gut and our normal flora inside the gut.

Certain foods such as gluten, sugar, and processed foods are inflammatory to the gut (regardless if you are intolerant to them or not) and will cause these tight junctions to open up. Toxins you are often exposed to such as glyphosate (Round Up) and MTBE (Gasoline additive) can have the same effect.

This is called leaky gut!

Undigested food, toxins, and bacteria leak from the gut into the blood. This process can lead to food allergies, autoimmune responses, neurotransmitter imbalances, and deficiencies. Symptoms such as bloating, brain fog, weight gain, fatigue, and depression/anxiety are common when experiencing a leaky gut.

Our thyroid can become sluggish and we can develop hypothyroidism or Hashimotos. Even our immune system can be affected and impaired - we can end up getting sick more often.

Luckily, keeping the gut healthy is simple…two things that you can easily do are…

  • Eat an anti-inflammatory diet filled with fresh fruit, veggies, protein, and healthy fats…

  • Drink clean water
